Adolescent Psychotherapy
01
My Approach
As a professional Adolescent therapist, I am trained to listen for and work with the particular issues that teenagers routinely face. Working in tandem with parents I strive to strengthen family relationships.
Adolescent therapy is a form of psychotherapy that helps those who are experiencing difficulties with their emotions and behaviour. It can help them to resolve their conflicts and emotional anxieties, regulate their emotions and improve their self-esteem.

02
How?
Adolescent counselling aims to help young people make sense of their feelings, behaviors and thoughts. This entails the use of unique techniques that draw out the expressive nature of a young person like art therapy, sand tray or more traditional approaches like talking therapy. CBT therapy can guide to see how your feelings, thoughts, choices, and actions affect each other. Together we explore emotions, thoughts, coping skills, facing fears, and more. Parents and caregivers may learn ways to help you too.

03
Understanding is key
The therapeutic relationship has been researched extensively in relation to its link to effective therapy. Adolescents are neither child nor adult. They want us to understand their needs, hence the relationship is powerful and influential.
The major recent discoveries in the field of neuroscience have provided direct evidence of its positive value, demonstrating the neurological changes which happen in an empathetic relationship. These changes are reparative and improve how the clients
feels. Research shows how the brain, through neuroplasticity, can create new pathways. It shows how change is possible with effective therapy.

04
Life experience
As a mother of three young adults I appreciate that this is a time of numerous transformations, which can render teens more susceptible to mental health issues. Teens are transforming physically, neurologically, socially, and cognitively. My integrative approach helps me to connect with both teen and the significant people in their lives.
